Car Panda App

Problem

The user needs a reliable, trustworthy mechanic who won’t rip them off when car repairs or maintenance are needed.

Goal

To create an app that makes it easy to find competitive quotes and trustworthy mechanics for car repairs and maintenance.

Client/Business Needs

The business needs the app to connect their users to auto shops and mechanics easily and hassle-free.

Measurement of Success

Success of the app will be measured by its ability to connect the user with auto mechanics and shops, based on ease of use and other feedback

We need an app that makes car repairs easy and fun!

User Analysis

Target Audience: Independent women ages 25-35

User does not know where to turn for trustworthy auto service. User does not have an easy way to get quotes on auto repairs without spending a lot of time visiting multiple auto shops. User wants to find the best service at the best price, but doesn’t want to waste time doing so.

User is in control of their own life and career. User is confident and comfortable making their own decisions. User knows little about cars or car repairs. User does not trust auto mechanics. She has possibly been told her whole life that they are untrustworthy or overcharge women for repairs and services, taking advantage of their ignorance. User finds the process of finding an auto shop stressful and frustrating.

User Attributes

Pain Points

She has a busy life and needs to be able to get car repair quotes quickly and easily.

Interaction Design

Interactions Needed:

  • Create profile

  • Add my car

  • Take pictures of damage

  • Send damage info to local body shops

  • Update maintenance

  • See my cases

  • Compare estimates

  • See local repair shops/ratings

  • Send a message

  • Set an appointment with body shops

1. Take pictures of car damage,

2. Send to local body shops,

3. Get quotes and decide which shop will fix your car!

The Car Panda app makes it easy for the user to take pictures and assess damage to their car without having to go to multiple body shops. This saves weeks of time, and ensures the user will get the best bang for their buck. Body shops will compete for their business in the quotes they offer and in their communication with the customer.

Sketching

Sketching is an important part of my process brainstorming, iteration and organization of design solutions.

Logo Creation

After sketching various ideas on making a lovable panda logo for the Car Panda app, I used InDesign to create a vector image of the logo and experiment with various coloring.
